ON THE ROAD TO ROCK AND ROLL Side A

ON THE ROAD TO ROCK AND ROLL (1986)

Extraplatte EX 51 Seite A

„On The Road To Rock And Roll“ war eine reine Konzeptplatte, deren Inhalt wegen seiner Komplexität nie live auf die Bühne kam. Die Konzeption eröffnet mit einem Aufruf, der den Charakter einer Signation hatte. Sie wurde damals in einer ORF-Serie über die Fifties oft als Background verwendet.
Zum erstenmal versuchte ich mich auch noch als scat-Sänger.

GET ALL UP (2:28)

Al Cook, voc, gtr, backing vocals
Mike Jerry, bs
Harry Hudson, dms
Martin Wichtl, Herbert Graf, Gerhard Wessely, saxes

Well, get all up and rock this joint tonight. (2)
Well, if you rock me, baby, ev’rything’s allright.
We gonna rock, rock this joint tonight. (2)
If you rock me, baby , ev’rything’s allright.
Same.

„Confidential Confession ist die eigentliche „Hitnummer“ von EX 51. Daß sie auch nach 11 Einsätzen im ORF und einem Clip in der Austria Wochenschau nicht zum Hit wurde, machte mich erst aufmerksam, daß eigentlich kein Schwein auf die Texte hört und Aussagekräftiges im monotonen Eintopf der Medienlandschaft einfach nicht registriert wird. Die Musik und vor allem der Text mögen für sich selbst sprechen.

CONFIDENTIAL CONFESSION (2:38)

Al Cook, voc, gtr, vocal dubs
Joachim Palden, pno
Mike Jerry, bs
Harry Hudson, dms
Martin Wichtl, Herbert Graf, Gerhard Wessely, saxes

I don’t go for Michael Jackson, ain’t got no crush on Prince,
I can’t stand the sound of music, babe, if the rhythm lacks that swing.
Whatever comes along is not for me, I’m confessin‘ you that confidentially:
Ain’t gonna give a cent for Falco, for Modern Talking and for Wham,
And if you like to kill me, baby use some hits by Boney M.
Have mercy on me, honey please, I’m confessin‘ you that confidentially.
(CH)I want rhythm, man, by a swingin‘ little rhythm band,
And when they’re jammin‘ with the boogie man, I’ll be jivin‘ around.
(BR)Don’t give me that junk, that’s called big funk, the top ten drive me mad.
Well, I don’t care if you call me sqare, cause I’ll be that kind of a cat.
(BR)Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller, Elvis, Chuck and Jerry Lee.
Well I get high on Louis Jordan’s style, that sounds like music to me.
Don’t tell me man, it’s groovy, ain’t gonna dig that disco sound.
It takes swingin‘ a-reelin‘ and rockin‘ babe, to make me jive around.
I’m a real old sqare and I’m proud to be, I’m confessin‘ you that confidentially.
(Repeat first stanza)
(Chorus to end)

Rock you madly sent rockers, roll you madly sent rollers.

(BR)Get together after sundown, don’t forget your rockin‘ shoes.
If your sweetheart’s late, there’s another chick on roast for you.
When the joint is jumpin and the feet are flyin‘, the cats go yell for more.
You never heard such a band in your life before.
So rock, you madly sent rockers, roll you madly sent rollers.
Listen, all you boys and girls, I’m calling all rockers all around the world.
I call the New York Rockers, the Frisco Rockers, the Moscow Rockers, the Danube Rockers.
Callin‘ all rockers in east and west, for a United Nations Rock Contest.
Rock, you madly sent rockers, roll, you madly sent rollers.
So stand together with all your soul, let’s conquer the earth with Rock And Roll.
(BR)So get your make-up and sharp dressing, get your sportin‘ high heel shoes.
At the Jamboree all the cats rock away their blues.
When the joint is jumpin‘ and the feet are flyin‘, the cats go yell for more,
You never heard such a band in your life before.
So rock, you madly sent rockers, roll you madly sent rollers,
So listen all you boys and girls, I’m callin‘ all rockers all around the world.
I call the New York Rockers, the Frisco Rockers, the Moscow Rockers, the Danube Rockers…..
